19 awards were presented to exceptional individuals honouring them for their creative yet contemporary approach towards every aspect in the television production field. It was heartening to see many new individuals and organisations achieve recognition at the ceremony.
HBO’s production crew stole the limelight with 3 brilliant wins in a night for Cinematography, Colour Grading – Long form and Motion Graphics – Short Form. Freeflow Productions, Mediacorp TV Singapore and new entrant, Stereoimage Studios came close with 2 wins each this year.
Freeflow Productions’ Roslee Yusof, Winner of Directing - Short Form category for two years in a row said, "The awards are important because it recognises the effort that everyone contributes to the production- it's about everyone coming together. I think the awards give us a reason to believe, to push on and to inspire the young ones to see their own potential."
Roslee continued, "The Apollo Awards is a regional recognition. We don't want to be a local giant but compete in a bigger space in the region where we work. We are all closely interconnected these days and so, it’s a great opportunity to see where we stand in the region creative field.”
"We are hopefully to develop The Violin into a feature film. We have started some early conversation and thinking about story ideas. It would be lovely if we could move on from here and be able to do that," said Ervin and Bernard from Robot Playground Media, Winner of the 2D Animation category for their work on The Violin.
The ceremony brought together more than 140 industry professionals who celebrated the joyous occasion with the award winners.
